WELCOME TO DOWN HOME EVENTS

Hi, I'm Ainslie!

For more than 17 years, I've worked behind the scenes of celebrations big and small—from galas honoring Broadway talent and political figures, award dinners recognizing icons like Meryl Streep and Nathan Lane. I've worked on community events at Mystic Aquarium, to alumni reunions, cocktail receptions, the Wickford Art Festival, and countless weddings throughout Rhode Island and southeastern New England. Along the way, I've learned that the most memorable events aren't necessarily the most extravagant. They're the ones that make people feel welcomed, connected, celebrated, and at ease.

I originally started Down Home Events to help couples and clients bring their visions to life while taking the stress off their shoulders. As I begin stepping away from wedding management services after Spring 2027, Down Home Events is evolving into something new: a place where I can share everything I've learned about weddings, entertaining, hosting, and celebrating well.

Whether you're planning a Newport wedding weekend, hosting a backyard bridal shower, looking for Rhode Island wedding inspiration, or simply searching for practical advice from someone who's seen a little bit of everything, I hope you'll find something helpful here.

You'll also find my newest venture, The Rhode Island Bride—a collection of apparel and gifts inspired by the unique charm, beauty, and traditions of getting married in the Ocean State.

Based in North Kingstown, I'm lucky to call Rhode Island home and to be just minutes from Jamestown, Newport, Narragansett, and so many of the places that make this state special. While weddings first brought me into this world, what has kept me here is a genuine love of gathering people together, creating meaningful experiences, and celebrating life's milestones.

When I'm not writing, working on The Rhode Island Bride, or sharing wedding advice, you'll usually find me with my daughters, Carly and Chloe, at the beach, strolling through Wickford, visiting local flower farms, grabbing ice cream, or trying (and someday succeeding) to beat my husband Tim at golf. I'm a proud Rhode Island girl with Connecticut roots, an obsession with hosting at home, a Master's Degree in Sports Management, and some controversial sports loyalties: Go Yankees. Go Patriots.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad you're here.
